The HC1-01 underpass is one of two underpasses under the An Phu intersection project (Thu Duc City), which started construction at the end of 2022 with a total investment of more than VND 3,408 billion.
The HC1-01 underpass alone has an investment capital of about VND343 billion, 760m long, including 4 lanes for two vehicles. This project directly connects the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway approach with Mai Chi Tho Street (the tunnel over the Saigon River).

In order to ensure traffic opening progress, in recent days, contractors have mobilized maximum human resources, machinery, and worked overtime day and night. Workers are urgently constructing the K9-K15 tunnel segments, the D800 pipeline system and pumping station.
In the hot weather at the end of March, dozens of workers are still working hard, determined to complete the project on time.

Mr. Nguyen Dat - construction supervisor of the XL05 package (construction of the HC1-01 underpass) - said that the units are focusing on burning down the K9 closed tunnel - an important item to complete the tunnel structure.
"The project has reached more than 90% of the volume, expected to open to traffic before April 30. We are taking advantage of the dry season, mobilizing human resources to work in 3 consecutive shifts, from 6am the previous morning to 3am the next morning" - Mr. Dat shared.
After being put into use, the HC1-01 underpass will help vehicles move conveniently from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to the tunnel across the Saigon River, reducing congestion at the eastern gateway of the city.

In parallel with HC1-01, the HC1-02 underpass (through the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection) is also being implemented with a length of 480m, 4 lanes, with a total investment of about 341 billion VND.
This underpass has reached more than 60% of the volume, contractors are constructing the tunnel sections, and re-establishing the road surface, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), after more than two years of construction, the entire An Phu intersection project has reached about 65% of the progress.
Of which, Ba Dat Bridge and Giong Ong To Bridge have been 90% completed, and are currently under construction with asphalt concrete.

In addition to the underpass project, 5 overpass branches in the area are also being implemented, including: N3 and N4 bridges at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection; N2 bridge turning right from Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Mai Chi Tho; N1.1 and N1.3 bridges turning left from Mai Chi Tho to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

An Phu intersection is the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, where many key routes intersect such as Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Mai Chi Tho Avenue, Luong Dinh Cua, Nguyen Thi Dinh, Dong Van Cong streets. This area is often congested due to large traffic volume.

The completion of the entire An Phu intersection project by the end of 2025 will not only help reduce traffic congestion at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City but also increase connectivity with seaports, the Southeast region and Long Thanh airport.
