On the morning of May 1st, Huong Hoa Regional General Hospital (Quang Tri province) confirmed that it is treating dozens of patients suspected of food poisoning.
Previously, from 6:30 am on April 29 to 0:00 am on May 1, Huong Hoa Regional General Hospital received 46 patients with symptoms such as high fever, frequent loose stools, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fatigue, and signs of dehydration.
The majority of patients are from 11 to 15 years old, the youngest patient is 50 months old and the oldest patient is 46 years old.
Before having the above symptoms, the patients ate bread taken from a bakery in Tan Son village (Tan Lap commune).
Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc - Director of Huong Hoa Regional General Hospital said that when receiving patients, the unit performed intravenous fluids, oral fluid replenishment, antibiotics, active treatment and close monitoring.
Currently, the patient's health is temporarily stable, there are no severe patients, most patients still have high fever, abdominal cramps, loose stools, fatigue" - Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc said.
According to Ms. Ho Thi Thuy Vinh - Chairwoman of Tan Lap Commune People's Committee, as soon as receiving information about suspected food poisoning cases, commune leaders were present at the hospital to visit patients and learn about the incident.
Most of the patients are students at Huong Loc Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School, residing in Ra Ty, Pa Xia, Cua villages and some residents in Tan Son, Tan Tai villages (Tan Lap commune).
Because of suspected poisoning due to eating bread, the commune has conducted a review of cases of eating bread at Tan Son village bakery. For cases with symptoms of poisoning, severe or mild, they are also taken to the hospital for examination and treatment. At the same time, functional agencies are taking samples for testing to clarify the cause" - Ms. Ho Thi Thuy Vinh informed.
