Purchasing power at supermarkets and traditional markets in Ho Chi Minh City increased slightly after the Tet holiday. Goods supply remained stable, many points of sale operated normally, and the buying and selling pace gradually returned to normal.
After the Tet holidays, the commodity market in Ho Chi Minh City quickly regained its excitement. Records at many supermarkets, shopping centers and traditional markets show that business operations have returned to normal, goods sources are abundant, and no shortages or unusual price increases have appeared.

At large retail systems such as AEON, MM Mega Market, GO!, Saigon Co. op..., the number of customers started to increase from the 4th and 5th days of Tet and has remained stable to date. Stalls of fresh food, vegetables, meat and fish are always abundant. Staff continuously add goods to the shelves to meet shopping needs. Many products are also subject to promotions and discounts to stimulate consumer demand at the beginning of the year.
Not only at supermarkets, traditional markets also quickly reopened. At Ba Chieu market, Tan Dinh market or Xom Chieu market... many small traders opened for sale early. The trading atmosphere is quite bustling, especially in the morning when people go to the market to prepare family meals.
Ms. Le Thu Han - a small trader at Tan Dinh market, said that the number of customers after Tet is relatively stable. Prices of goods have not fluctuated much compared to before Tet, even some types of vegetables have slightly decreased thanks to abundant supply.
After Tet, goods come in a lot, prices are stable, so buyers are also more comfortable. Customers mainly buy fresh food, serving daily needs, no longer buying for storage like near Tet" - Ms. Han shared.
Reality at markets shows that prices are generally stable. Pork, chicken, seafood, and green vegetables... have not recorded a sudden price increase.
Meanwhile, at 3 wholesale markets Thu Duc, Hoc Mon and Binh Dien, wholesale prices of vegetables, fruits and vegetables are basically stable, some items slightly decreased from 1,000-3,000 VND/kg due to low purchasing power.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, it is estimated that the total retail sales of goods in the peak Tet month (February 2026) in the area increased by about 15% compared to the same period. During the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, although the amount of goods through the three wholesale markets increased by 45-54% compared to normal days, reaching about 9,200-9,900 tons/day during peak season, the market still did not experience a supply shortage.
