On April 25, the Government Office announced that it had just issued Document No. 3565/VPCP-KGVX conveying the direction of Central Party Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requesting the handling of information reflecting on the increase in food poisoning cases.
According to the report of the Government Electronic Information Portal on press information reflecting the increase in food poisoning cases, in the first 3 months of 2025, a series of food poisoning cases occurred nationwide, causing hundreds of people to be hospitalized.
In Ho Chi Minh City, in less than a month, the city has had 3 consecutive suspected cases of food poisoning in schools, causing many students to be hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea...
Given the worrying situation of food poisoning, finding effective and synchronous solutions is an urgent requirement. Not only stopping at handling after incidents, prevention work needs to be given top priority.
From tightening the inspection and control of food origin, raising awareness of producers and traders, to enhancing propaganda and education for consumers are all important linkages in the chain of actions for a safe food environment.
Regarding the above reflection, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Culture, Sports and Tourism, People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to continue to promote the implementation of Directive No. 38/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening food poisoning prevention according to their assigned functions and tasks.
The Ministry of Health strengthens the urging and inspection of food poisoning prevention in localities, especially in key areas, large cities, tourist areas, where there are many collective kitchens, food service establishments for workers, students, and tourists.
The People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities will strengthen inspection, examination, and surprise inspection of compliance with food safety regulations in the area, especially at collective eateries, food service establishments, and street food, strictly handling violations according to regulations.
