On November 9-10, Tam Long Viet Fund - Vietnam Television, Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and E Hospital organized a free congenital heart disease screening program for children under 18 years old in Dien Bien province.
This is the fourth time the program "Heart for Children" has come to Dien Bien province, with the desire to help children be screened for cardiovascular diseases as well as be able to provide timely treatment regimens for cases of congenital heart defects.
After screening, cases requiring intervention, surgery and those in difficult circumstances will be guided by the "Heart for Children" program to complete the application for completely free treatment.
According to the Lao Dong Newspaper, many families have brought their children to Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital for free screening. Among them, Mr. Ly A Chu and his wife - Hua Thanh Commune, Dien Bien District, "I am very happy to have the opportunity to bring my 9-month-old daughter here for examination. After the heart surgery in Hanoi, she is much healthier now" - Mr. Chu said.
Mr. Le Huy Hoang - Director of Viettel Dien Bien - said that in 3 phases of the Program implemented in Dien Bien province, 9,000 children were examined and screened for free and 1.5 billion VND was supported for treatment for children in difficult circumstances.
According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnamese Heart Fund, after 16 years of implementation, the program has successfully supported surgery for more than 7,400 children under 18 years old with congenital heart disease in difficult circumstances nationwide.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has an average of 10,000 new cases of congenital heart disease discovered each year. If early intervention and treatment are given, the rate of children being cured is very high.
