Next to the newly built concrete bridge over the stream, Ms. Chau Thi Lien, Dong Da village, Thuong Nong commune (Lam Binh district) could not hide her joy. Because from 2024 to now, dozens of households have not been cut off from traffic every time the flood season comes.
"Now is the dry season, just look at the dry stream like this, but when it rains and floods, it is terrible, the water rises high and flows around. Before, there was no bridge, and there was a heavy rain, sometimes it was cut off until a few days, so I couldn't go anywhere, but now I'm assured," Ms. Lien shared.
In early 2024, Nam Lon bridge over the stream in Dong Da village was built, and the villagers were happy to come out. The reinforced concrete bridge, only 16m long and more than 2m wide, is the long-standing wish of the people.

Mr. Hoang Van Cuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Nong commune said that with the terrain over 90% of the steep mountains, there are many steep streams in the area and they become especially fierce every time the flood comes, threatening the lives and property of people.
"The completion of Nam Lon Bridge has ensured safety for people traveling during the rainy season while also facilitating the transportation of agricultural products, changing the face of mountainous rural areas," said Mr. Cuong.
Across the villages in Tuyen Quang province, hundreds of bridges for people have been built over the past 5 years. This is implemented according to Resolution No. 55 of the Provincial People's Council, overcoming the situation of traffic disruption in localities.
According to the plan, in the period of 2021-2030, Tuyen Quang province will build 355 new bridges for people on rural concrete roads. Of which, the State invests 100% of the construction cost, people voluntarily clear the land for the construction of bridges, access roads and connecting roads.

Currently, 39 bridges are under construction in 6 districts of Tuyen Quang province. Contractors are committed to completing all 39 bridges before October this year so that people can travel with peace of mind during the rainy season.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Tran Van Sang - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Tuyen Quang province said that in the period of 2021 - 2025, the construction of about 200 bridges in the area will be completed. By the end of this year, this goal will be completed.
"During the construction process, people in the places where the bridge passes through are very supportive, wholeheartedly donating land, and providing maximum support to the construction units. We closely coordinate with relevant units to monitor and ensure the quality of the project when put into use," Mr. Sang informed.
