Previously, on the afternoon of July 9, child K was unfortunately swept away by floodwaters in the Dong Phu hamlet area. Immediately after receiving the news, local rescue forces deployed searches throughout the night.
According to the Thai Nguyen Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, currently, on the Cau and Cong rivers, the water level is rising rapidly.
On the morning of July 10, the water level at Bac Kan station was 130.90m, 1.10m below alarm level 1; at Gia Bay station 24.04m, 0.96m below alarm level 1.
It is forecasted that by July 11, there will be floods on the Cau and Cong rivers, the flood amplitude will fluctuate from 1.5m - 3.0m, warning of the risk of flooding in urban areas, flooding in low-lying, underground, overflowing areas, and river and stream areas.
Faced with prolonged heavy rain causing the reservoir water level to continue to rise, from 11:30 am on July 10, Thai Nguyen Irrigation Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company operated to regulate water discharge through the Nui Coc spillway.
According to this unit, the operation of water discharge may affect the production, business, travel and daily life of people in the downstream areas along both banks of the Cong River, belonging to communes and wards such as Dai Phuc, Tan Cuong, Ba Xuyen, Song Cong, Pho Yen, Van Xuan, Trung Thanh, Phuc Thuan and Thanh Cong.
