On the afternoon of May 28, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh commune, Quang Tri province said that the locality is coordinating with functional forces to urgently implement measures to fight forest fires occurring in the area.
Previously, at about 2 pm on the same day, a fire broke out in the coastal forest area of Thuong Hau village, Quang Ninh commune. Immediately after discovering the incident, fire prevention and fighting forces, forest rangers coordinated with local authorities, police, military, militia and people to quickly approach the scene to fight the fire.
Due to prolonged hot weather accompanied by strong winds, the fire quickly broke out on a large scale, the smoke column rose tens of meters high and spread from Thuong Hau village to Ha Thiep village, causing many difficulties for firefighting work.
Until about 6:30 pm on the same day, hundreds of people and many vehicles were still urgently spraying water, clearing vegetation, creating firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading. Currently, functional forces are still making efforts to control the fire.
This is the 2nd coastal forest fire in Quang Tri in the past 4 days.
