On the morning of September 13th, 32 pairs of cows from neighboring communes and wards such as: An Cu (13 pairs), Tinh Bien (12 pairs), Chi Lang (4 pairs) and Nui Cam (3 pairs) will compete at the Ro Pagoda racetrack (An Cu commune, An Giang province). According to Lam Van Ba, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Ro Pagoda Cattle Racing Festival 2026, thanks to promoting socialization, this year's prize structure has been raised.
The excellent pair of cows winning the First Prize will receive cups, flags and a prize money of 30,000,000 VND. The Second, Third, and Fourth prizes will respectively receive prizes of 25,000, 200,000 VND and 15,000,000 VND. The Organizing Committee also awarded 4 Consolation Prizes (8,000,000 VND each) and 1 prize specifically for the Best Cow Driver (5,000,000 VND). In particular, to encourage the spirit of participation, each pair of cows participating in the race will be supported with a cost of 1,000,000 VND/pair. Venerable Chau Soc Khonl - a monk of Ro Pagoda - confirmed that this is the highest prize compared to the previous 25 times of organization.
The attractiveness of the prizes has directly and positively impacted the fighting spirit of the cow owners. For many days, many people have actively brought pairs of cows to the pagoda racetrack to get acquainted with the field surface and strive to practice. Many people even hired cars to transport the pair of cows to the training ground to ensure health and safety before the competition day. All as a signal that the cow owners are ready to enter a fiery competition, promising a vibrant and beautiful traditional cultural and sports festival of the Khmer people in That Son region.
In parallel with the competitions on the race track of excellent pairs of cows, the Ro Pagoda Bull Racing Festival is also an ideal rendezvous for photographers with the "Fast Photo Contest". The prize for photographers who capture the most beautiful moment is 6,000,000 VND (Prize I), along with 2 Second Prizes (4,000,000 VND each), 3 Third Prizes (3,000,000 VND each) and 10 Consolation Prizes. The photo judging and awarding ceremony will take place publicly at 4:00 PM on the same day, immediately after the seedling planting ceremony ends.
