As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from the end of March 2025 to now, in Kim Lu commune (Na Ri, Bac Kan), subsidence points have continuously appeared, causing people to feel insecure and worried.
Talking with reporters, Mr. Truong Quang Trong - Chairman of Kim Lu Commune People's Committee confirmed that there are currently a total of 9 subsidence locations in the area.
Of which, 6 points have formed holes and the remaining 3 points are showing signs of cracking, posing a potential risk of subsidence in the coming time.
At the location of a serious subsidence on National Highway 3B where a person and a motorbike were suspected of falling into a hole on the evening of May 26, the water level has now risen again.
The craters show signs of continuing to expand, making the search difficult.
In addition to the risk of traffic insecurity, some other sinkholes in the area are located near houses, causing cracks in the surrounding walls and soil, threatening the lives of people in the area.

According to the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources, the death holes in this area formed on a geological background consisting mainly of strongly dienated limestone, combined with the activity of underground water vessels below.
The prolonged silent erosion process created underground holes, at one point causing a sudden subsidence.
With such a complex geological structure, the treatment requires careful survey, avoiding the application of simple hole filling measures that will not be able to solve the problem at the root.
Regarding the handling direction, Mr. Tran Manh Quyen - Deputy Director of the Road Maintenance Management Board (Bac Kan Provincial Department of Construction) said that the handling direction will depend on the size and characteristics of the underground cave below.

"There are currently two options being considered: one is to temporarily fill with conventional materials; the other is to drill piles and make concrete floors overcome the collapse area," said Mr. Quyen.
Faced with the subsidence, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province has directed an initial survey and assigned the Na Ri District Project Management Board to establish a detailed survey project for the entire Kim Lu commune within 45 - 60 days.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Nguyet - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Na Ri district said that the survey results will be an important basis for choosing a suitable treatment plan, ensuring stability for people's lives.
In particular, some solutions are being considered such as continuing to reinforce and fill holes. If the subsidence is too complicated, a plan will be considered to relocate people to safe areas and resettle them.
At about 9:34 p.m. on May 26, at the subsidence point on National Highway 3B through Hiep Luc village, Kim Lu commune (Na Ri, Bac Kan), a motorbike driver fell down the barrier and fell into a deep hole.
As soon as they received the news, the authorities arrived at the scene to organize a search but the victim's whereabouts were still unknown.
The identity of the missing person was identified as Mr. Nguyen Duy Ph. (born in 1989, residing in Kim Hy commune, Na Ri district).
