Regarding the traffic camera system in Hanoi, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department is currently operating more than 600 clusters, operating 24/24.
Through this camera system, the Traffic Command and Traffic Light Control Team - Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police is responsible for operating the traffic light system, regulating vehicles at intersections, ensuring smooth traffic operations.
In addition, the camera system also records traffic violations - which is the basis for the authorities to verify and punish.
When detecting violating vehicles, officers and soldiers on duty at the Command Center will report via walkie-talkie to traffic patrol teams to stop the vehicles, check and make a record for direct handling.
If the violating vehicle cannot be stopped, the information will be transferred to the form of a fine. In cases where a direct penalty record has been issued, no additional fines will be applied.

"In addition to monitoring traffic activities, the surveillance camera system also observes traffic jams, accidents, fires, etc. The center staff will promptly notify the local traffic police officers and the Command Center to send forces to handle the situation," said Major Pham Trung Hieu - an officer of the Traffic Command and Traffic Light Control Team, Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police.
The camera system is currently operated by the Hanoi Traffic Police Department 24/7. Regardless of unusual weather conditions or at night, surveillance cameras still have the technical conditions to detect violations, giving stable and quality images.
