In mid-February 2025, Dien Bien province approved the project "Construction of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House and investment in additional construction items at the E2 Hill Relic" with a total investment of 35 billion VND.
The E2 Hill relic (belonging to Tan Thanh ward and Him Lam ward, Dien Bien Phu city) with an area of 76,466.5m2 (no protection area II) was classified by the Prime Minister as a special national relic in 2009.

Create highlights in architecture and space, attracting people and tourists to visit and travel.

It is known that the project to build the "Construction of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House and investment in additional construction items at the E2 Hill Relic" is invested by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province. This is a group C project; a civil project, level III; the minimum life of the project is 50 years.
The President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House has a construction area of 160m2; designed in traditional architecture, with a 2-storey roof architecture.
In addition, there are some items: left and right floors; stone roofs; restoration of exhibition houses; relic stele; relic sea; leveling of the ground; yard, internal road...

The project implementation progress is from 2024-2026, this project is built with support capital from Ho Chi Minh City. The function of project management is assigned to the Project Management Board of Civil and Industrial Works of Dien Bien province.

During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, E2 Hill belongs to the Dominican Resistance Center, one of the five eastern defensive peaks in the Central subdivision, with the task of preventing the Vietnam People's Army from attacking the Dien Bien Phu stronghold Group from the East.


After 36 days and nights of strong and heroic fighting, the Vietnamese army completely took control of the two tops of E1 and E2, destroying 5 105mm artillery pieces, 6 large-scale anti-ship pieces, 1 battalion, 1 tank, 1 ammunition depot, destroying hundreds of French soldiers, launching a successful attack and destroying the following strongholds, contributing to the overall victory of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
