On September 24, in the area next to the old central market of Muong Khuong district, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper recorded a bustling construction atmosphere.
At the large construction site, workers and many large-capacity mechanical vehicles such as road rollers, bulldozers, trucks are continuously operating, leveling rocks and soil, and completing infrastructure items.
According to research, the project to build infrastructure for the urban area east of the old central market of Muong Khuong district has a total area of over 7.27 hectares, invested by the Muong Khuong Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The project started in May 2025, with a total investment of over 72.2 billion VND from the additional provincial budget with a target for the district and land use revenue.
The contractor is Hoang Nguyen Construction Company Limited, the project implementation period is expected to be until November 2026.
The project is planned and invested in synchronous technical infrastructure such as: site clearance, leveling, roads, drainage systems, water supply, power supply, etc.
With a prime location - located next to the old Muong Khuong district administrative center and close to the central market - the project promises to form a modern new urban area, attracting people to live, creating momentum to promote the local socio-economy.
Mr. Nguyen Quy Hung (residing in Muong Khuong commune) shared: "Machines and trucks have been coming and going busily for many months to level the ground. If the urban area is formed soon, the locality will be more crowded and bustling, while opening up opportunities for economic and service development for the people".
The project to build infrastructure for the urban area east of the central market of the old Muong Khuong district not only has the meaning of developing urban space but also contributes to creating more residential land, gradually improving the quality of material and spiritual life of the people.
The formation of a new urban area in the border area is also expected to attract investment, enhance trade connectivity, thereby promoting socio-economic development, enhancing the position of Muong Khuong district in particular and Lao Cai province in general.
Mr. Bui Sy Ngoc - Director of the Muong Khuong Construction Investment Project Management Board said: "On July 15, the Board handed over a part of an area of about 22,000 m2 for construction. Currently, the unit is dredging organic soil and leveling the ground with an area of about 6,400 m2.
Due to heavy rain conditions, the progress is sometimes affected, but when it is dry, the contractor will mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to speed up the progress".
According to Mr. Ngoc, despite difficulties in weather, the construction unit still ensures the workload and complies with technical requirements.
The Project Management Board regularly inspects, supervises, and promptly removes obstacles to ensure the project is completed according to the set plan.
