Luong Dinh Cua Street is a vital route connecting the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, which has been invested in and upgraded since 2015 with a scale of expansion to 30m, extending 2.5km from Tran Nao Street to An Phu intersection, with a total investment of more than 800 billion VND. However, after many delays, the project has now completed many items and is expected to open to traffic from Nguyen Hoang Street to Tran Nao intersection before Tet 2025.
According to the reporter's records at the Luong Dinh Cua road project (from Cao Duc Lan street to An Tu Cong Chua street), the road has been basically completed and traffic is smooth. Meanwhile, the section from Nguyen Hoang street to Tran Nao intersection is being urgently constructed. Some sections are currently being paved with crushed stone and the road surface is being rolled, preparing for asphalt concrete.
Ms. Hoa (38 years old) - a resident doing business on this road - said: "The slow construction of the road has made it difficult for residents living on the road to do business. Customers avoid coming because of the dust and smoke, and bunkers blocking the way make the shop always covered in dust. Vehicles are stuck in front of the door, and some days no one even dares to stop to buy. Today, when I see that the road is almost completed and ready to open to traffic, I am very happy, hoping that business will be more favorable and this area will become more spacious."
In addition to the section from Nguyen Hoang Street to Tran Nao, part of the project to upgrade and expand Luong Dinh Cua Street, which is expected to open to traffic before the 2025 Lunar New Year, the section from Nguyen Hoang Street to An Phu intersection (600m long) is still unclear when it will be completed.
The main cause is the problem of 22,000m² of land belonging to the An Phu Urban Development Project, affecting 64 households and overlapping with the An Phu intersection project.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed adjusting the land area to remove difficulties, speed up compensation and resettlement progress, create favorable conditions for construction and improve traffic in the area.
Once completed, the project will contribute to connecting with the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, An Phu intersection, and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
