The new Da Phuc bridge project across Cong River, connecting Pho Yen City (Thai Nguyen) and Soc Son District (Hanoi), started construction in August 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2024.
Da Phuc Bridge is a project in the Project to renovate weak bridges and connecting bridges on National Highways (phase 1) with a total capital of nearly 1,500 billion VND invested by the Ministry of Transport.
On October 20, according to the reporter, after more than 2 years of construction, the bridge deck, main beam, and railing system have been basically completed.
Currently, workers and machinery are focusing on completing the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, then will urgently proceed with construction of other auxiliary items.
As a driver on the Thai Nguyen - Hanoi route, Mr. Nguyen Van Kien shared that he was very happy to hear that the new bridge construction was about to be completed.
"Currently, we drivers still travel on the old bridge (parallel to the bridge under construction) and the old bridge surface is narrow, while the traffic volume is very large, so traffic jams are very likely to occur. Therefore, when I learned that there would be another bridge, I felt very happy," said Mr. Kien.
Similarly, Mr. Vu Van Sang (Thai Nguyen City) said that the implementation of the Da Phuc bridge project is necessary, because the bridge not only helps facilitate trade but also reduces the risk of collisions between vehicles.
"When driving on the old bridge, every time a truck or bus passes by, the whole bridge shakes violently. Because the bridge is small, every time that happens, motorbike drivers like me have to stay close to the railing.
When the new bridge is completed, traveling will be easier and help reduce the risk of traffic jams and collisions," said Mr. Sang.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam - Chairman of Thuan Thanh Ward People's Committee said that up to now, the surface of Da Phuc bridge has been basically completed after more than 2 years of construction.
After decades of operation, the old Da Phuc Bridge has shown signs of deterioration, while this is a vital route with high traffic density. The construction of a new bridge will help expand the trading space and develop the local economy.
