The Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Investment Project with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway was approved by the Minister of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) in Decision No. 699/QD-BGTVT dated June 4, 2024.
This project has a total investment of more than 692 billion VND, invested by the Department of Construction of Phu Tho province (formerly the Department of Transport).
In mid-February 2025, the project was implemented after a construction package worth 468 billion VND was selected by a contractor.
This project is currently under construction along the Ho Chi Minh route through Phu Tho ward (old Ha Loc commune) and Phong Chau ward (old Phu Ho commune), building a road connecting the IC9 Intersection of Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway and the end point of Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in mid-August, the contractor is implementing many construction teams, with many officers, engineers, and workers mobilized along with many vehicles and raw materials brought to the construction site.
It can be seen that the contractor is currently constructing underpasses, precast components, overpasses at the intersection of provincial road 315B (near the end of Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway), digging and filling the roadbed...
According to the design, the project to invest in the route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway will build a main route connecting the two expressways with a total length of over 2.73km, including 4 lanes, with the design of the A1 elevated road surface made of asphalt concrete.
Along with that, the project will build a system of service roads and return roads to connect the local traffic system and bridges, underpasses on a number of level crossings, intersections at other intersection levels...
According to the report of the Phu Tho Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (project management unit), the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Connection Investment Project with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway has been implemented to date with a value of about VND 55,902,000,000 billion (13.07%).
The completed volume focuses on works such as: unsuitable excavation, exploitation excavation for filling, roadbed filling, underpass construction, retaining wall construction, box culverts, filling in grain-shaped materials, precast concrete components, bored piles... basically ensuring progress.
Regarding site clearance, up to now, land, crops, trees and architectural objects on the land have been inventoried for 161/175 households in Phu Tho ward and 16/28 households in Phong Chau ward.
When put into use, the project will help reduce the load on the Ho Chi Minh route, reduce traffic accidents, improve exploitation capacity and investment efficiency of the two main expressways, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
