On April 9, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Center) successfully coordinated the rescue of a foreign crew member in distress at sea, bringing them ashore for timely emergency treatment.
Previously, at about 8:40 pm on April 8, the Center received information from the ship ESL DACHAN BAY about the crew member on board, Mr. A.A.P (born in 1980, Filipino nationality), showing symptoms of severe abdominal pain in the right iliac fossa, accompanied by vomiting and sweating. The captain proactively changed the route to the offshore area of Ho Chi Minh City and requested a plan to support bringing the patient ashore for emergency treatment.
After receiving it, the Center organized initial medical consultation; coordinated with functional agencies and ship owner representatives to develop a support plan. Through remote diagnosis, this crew member suspected acute appendicitis, with a risk of severe progression if not intervened in time.

SAR 272 ship on duty in Ho Chi Minh City has been dispatched, along with a team of doctors from Vung Tau General Hospital to the scene to carry out rescue. At about 8 am on April 9, SAR 272 ship approached ESL DACHAN BAY ship and proceeded to receive the distressed crew member, organize initial medical care, and quickly bring the victim ashore to transfer to a specialized medical facility for further treatment.
By 10 am on the same day, the patient was supported to be safely brought ashore, handed over to the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard and representatives of the ship owner to be transferred to a medical facility for further intensive treatment.
