Clear the premises before Tet
On December 18, Mr. Nguyen Nam Phuong - Specialist of Project Management Board 2 under the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) said that to ensure normal life for people during the Lunar New Year 2025, the unit will try to speed up the construction progress and complete the return and restoration of clean land before January 20, 2025.
According to Mr. Nam, for the Metro Line 2 project, MAUR is focusing on speeding up site clearance and technical infrastructure relocation. “This is an important task to create a clean site and hand it over to contractors to build underground stations later,” said Mr. Nam.
According to Lao Dong on the afternoon of December 18, workers were busy moving and connecting the 110kV underground high-voltage cable line to serve the construction of the S2 - Tao Dan station under the metro line 2 construction project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong).
Mr. Nam said that after completing the relocation and connection of the 110kV underground high-voltage cable, the contractor will conduct testing and operation as planned.
Accelerating completion of 110kV underground cable line
The contractor has simultaneously deployed the relocation of technical infrastructure at 12 stations. This includes the high-voltage project and the relocation of 2 high-voltage underground cable lines at S2 - Tao Dan station (District 3), Hoa Tan station and S4 station. The value of this high-voltage project is about 44 billion VND, within the scope of work of the electrical construction package 1, and the relocation and re-establishment of electricity from the Ben Thanh open-cut section (District 1) to S6 Pham Van Hai station (Tan Binh district).
“Despite the rainy season weather conditions, narrow space, and the need to both construct and divert traffic, the contractor still made efforts to meet the relocation schedule,” said Mr. Nam.
MAUR representative also informed that the site clearance work has been basically completed to serve the construction of Metro Line 2 project next year.
Mr. Bui Tung Son - Director of Thien Dinh Company (representative of the contractor of Metro Line 2 project) said that currently at station S2 (Tao Dan, District 3) there is a 110kV underground cable line managed by the Ho Chi Minh City High Voltage Grid Company. On November 28, this unit started pulling and energizing circuit 1 for the Tao Dan - Ben Thanh underground cable line. Today (December 18), the contractor continues to pull the cable to continue circuit 2 of the Tao Dan - Ben Thanh line. It is expected that the 110kV underground cable line for this line will be completed on December 24.
According to Mr. Tung, most of the technical infrastructure relocation work must be done at night. On the other hand, high traffic volume, overlapping infrastructure, slow site handover, etc. also affect the construction progress.
“If the 110kV underground cable system at stations S2 and S4 is completed, the expected disbursement will be about 55 billion VND. Compared to the proposed plan, it is a bit slow,” said Mr. Tung.
According to Mr. Tung, in January 2025, the contractor will relocate the entire medium and low voltage power grid of station S2 (Tao Dan). “By May 2025 at the latest, we will complete the entire power grid infrastructure for the entire line from station CC1 (Ben Thanh) to station S6 (Pham Van Hai) to prepare for the start of Metro Line 2,” said Mr. Tung.
