The Department of Home Affairs of Hai Duong province has just issued a document requesting the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to strengthen the management of summer renovation activities at pagodas and Buddhist establishments in the area.
The summer reform is a religious activity that fosters Buddhist ethics, teachings and life skills for Buddhist youth, usually held from 1 to 7 days during the annual summer vacation.
In Hai Duong province, this activity has been organized by some pagodas since around 2008 and has tended to increase recently. In general, the restoration courses are all implemented in accordance with regulations, and no complicated problems have been discovered.
However, in order to ensure that the retreats take place safely, in accordance with the orientation, in accordance with the regulations and promoting the positive education value, the Department of Home Affairs of Hai Duong province proposed the localities to actively guide the district Buddhist Church of the district and the institutions to strictly implement the organization process. The content of the organization of the retreat should specify the name of the retreat, time, location, curriculum, participation and list of lecturers and lecturers.
Local authorities are responsible for monitoring and inspecting organizational conditions such as facilities, healthcare, environmental sanitation, fire prevention and fighting, security and order... to ensure the safety of students attending. In case of detecting inappropriate content or signs of violation, it is possible to request an adjustment or stop organizing the renovation course.
In addition, localities are required to strengthen their grasp of the situation, promptly detect and rectify inappropriate activities at reform courses if any; instruct religious establishments to organize in accordance with regulations and in accordance with Buddhist teachings and traditional Vietnamese culture.
After the renovation courses are completed, the Department of Internal Affairs of districts, towns and cities will synthesize and report to the Department of Home Affairs on the organization situation, evaluate the strengths, shortcomings and propose solutions, contributing to improving the quality of this activity in the coming years.
