On July 16, Hue City People's Committee said that it will distribute free textbooks and local educational materials to all students from grades 1 to 12 in the area from the 2026 - 2027 school year, with a total estimated cost of about 52.8 billion VND.
Accordingly, the policy is implemented to implement the resolutions and policies of the Central Government on education development, while reducing the cost at the beginning of the school year for parents and ensuring that all students have full textbooks.
The policy applies to students studying at public and non-public schools, vocational education - continuing education centers and educational institutions implementing general education programs in the city.
Textbooks will be purchased by the city, assigned to educational institutions for management and distribution in the form of borrowing - returning annually through the school library system. This approach aims to use the budget effectively, create a source of long-term reusable books and raise students' awareness of preserving books.
Hue City People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and related units to develop cost estimates, organize procurement, and at the same time complete library facilities, the process of issuing, managing and recovering books before the new school year begins.
Mr. Nguyen Tan - Director of Hue City Department of Education and Training said that the program is of great significance but also sets requirements for innovating the management and organization of school library activities. According to him, not only library staff but also many other forces in the school will participate in the process of distributing and recalling books.
This not only saves for parents but also educates and raises students' awareness in knowing how to preserve and cherish textbooks for the next generations," Mr. Nguyen Tan emphasized.
