On December 26, Quang Nam Provincial Police said that through investigation and understanding the situation, there is currently a situation in the province where some students buy Kumanthong dolls to worship, buy cakes, candies, milk and soft drinks to "feed" them with the purpose of praying for luck and good study.

Kumanthong dolls are a form of superstition originating from Thailand, rumored to have many supernatural spiritual powers, bringing luck and fortune to the owner and have spread to Vietnam.

“Bad people have taken advantage of students' gullibility, curiosity, and lack of knowledge to lure them into believing and buying dolls.

This is an extremely dangerous superstitious activity, causing panic and fear, creating bad consequences for the children themselves, their families and society" - Quang Nam police warned.

Regarding this problem, Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province urgently directed the entire sector to strengthen security in schools.
