To prevent and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) seafood exploitation, station officers and soldiers promote legal propaganda, and apply information technology, including email boxes, to receive and exchange information with fishermen.
Senior Lieutenant Dang Phu Sang - Head of Rach Dam Border Guard Station - said that officers not only inspect but also proactively explain to fishermen to understand that compliance with regulations on seafood exploitation contributes to protecting marine resources, environment and the reputation of Vietnamese fisheries.
Through propaganda, the legal awareness of ship owners, captains and fishermen has gradually been raised. Many fishermen have also become "propagandists" on ships, mobilizing members to comply with regulations.
Along with direct propaganda, the unit focuses on applying digital technology in management. The e-mail box has become a convenient connection channel, helping to shorten the time for information exchange between the Border Guard force and vehicle owners, captains and fishermen.
According to Senior Lieutenant Colonel Luu Quang Muoi, Political Commissar of An Thoi Port Border Guard Station, information sent via email is received, summarized and transferred to responsible officials for handling according to their functions and tasks. This is also a channel for the Border Guard force to guide fishermen to implement fishing regulations and proactively prevent violations.
