Up to now, the river water has begun to recede, the river water is clearer, creating more favorable conditions for the search. The authorities are still trying to race against time, with the highest determination to soon find the missing victims.
Directly present at the scene, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province - closely directed the rescue work, requested the maximum mobilization of vehicles and human resources, ensuring safety for the search forces.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 21, at around 4:30 p.m. at Hai An dam, Quang Thanh commune, 7 young men and students were swimming in a stream when they were suddenly swept away by the flood. People promptly rescued 3 people.
As soon as the incident occurred, Hai Ha district mobilized hundreds of people including police, soldiers, militia and people to search. At 6:30 p.m., the authorities found a child and took him to the Hai Ha District Medical Center for emergency treatment, but he died.
At around 8:35 p.m., the authorities found another victim's body.
