Cat Lai 8-lane bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai is expected to start construction at the end of September

The Cat Lai bridge project has a total length of more than 11.6km with a scale of 8 lanes connecting Cat Lai ward (HCMC) to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (Dai Phuoc commune, Dong Nai city).

On September 19, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Dong Nai City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board confirmed that the Cat Lai bridge construction investment project is expected to start construction at the end of September 2026.

Accordingly, the project has a total length of more than 11.6 km (Cat Lai bridge is about 3km long), with a scale of 6 lanes for motorized vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles. The project has its starting point in Cat Lai ward, Ho Chi Minh City and the ending point of the project intersecting with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (Dai Phuoc commune, Dong Nai city).

The winning investor is a consortium led by Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC, CC1 Asset Management and Service Co., Ltd., and CC1 Investment Joint Stock Company.

Construction time from 2026 - 2029.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai City, Cat Lai bridge is a strategic traffic project across the Dong Nai River - the "backbone" connecting the inter-regional development space of the Southeast region, located in the overall connection between Long Thanh airport and Ho Chi Minh City, route T1 - National Highway 51 - road 25C.

On June 11, the 2nd (thematic) session of the People's Council of Dong Nai City, term I, passed a Resolution adjusting the investment policy for Cat Lai bridge construction projects.

Cat Lai bridge project, the total investment of the project increased from more than 20,600 billion VND to more than 24,000 billion VND. In which, compensation, support, and resettlement costs increased from more than 2,900 billion VND to more than 4,400 billion VND.

The project is divided into 2 component projects including: Component Project 1 compensation, site clearance and investment in the construction of connecting roads, bridges on the route from adjacent to Cat Lai bridge approach on the Dong Nai side to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway with a total investment of more than 9,000 billion VND, from the Dong Nai City budget; Component Project 2, investment in the construction of Cat Lai bridge, including the main bridge across the river and the approach bridge at both ends of the bridge on the Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai side, with a total investment of nearly 15,000 billion VND, invested in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).

The expected land use demand of the entire project is nearly 127ha, of which, in Dong Nai City is more than 121ha, in Ho Chi Minh City is about 5.2ha.
