Over 600 billion VND to support Lao Cai and Yen Bai to overcome the consequences of storms and floods

As of the end of September 21, the Relief Mobilization Committee of Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces had received support from organizations and individuals with an amount of more than 600 billion VND.

According to the Lao Cai Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, as of the end of September 21, the whole province had 130 deaths; 21 missing people and 50 injured people (36 people have been discharged from the hospital).

Along with that, 6,749 houses were flooded, landslides, and swept away by floods, 789 houses collapsed, 1,935 houses were urgently evacuated, and 929 houses had damaged auxiliary structures.

In addition, there is much other damage to infrastructure and agricultural production.

Initial economic damage is estimated at over 5,959 billion VND.

In recent days, working delegations from the Central Government, Lao Cai province, localities and many charitable organizations have visited and encouraged (over 6,000 units donated cash, over 500 delegations went to localities to provide charitable support) with an amount of more than 421.5 billion VND (including: in-kind support of 127 billion VND; cash support of 294 billion VND).

In Yen Bai, the impact of storm No. 3 left 54 ​​people dead and missing; 27,331 houses damaged and affected; many infrastructures and agricultural production facilities were damaged.

Preliminary damage estimates are about 5,738 billion VND.

This mountainous locality has received 5,548 organizations and individuals in support of nearly 187 billion VND (of which the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front donated 130 billion VND).

In addition, 157 groups supported and registered to support in kind including: relief boats, water filters, kitchen utensils, personal hygiene tools, home repair tools; household appliances; blankets; household water filters; temporary shelters, household appliances, water treatment tools and many other essential necessities.

Storms and floods have caused severe damage in many northern provinces.
