The latest report on the afternoon of August 25 from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thuong Trach commune (Quang Tri) said that there was prolonged heavy rain in the area, wind level 45, average rainfall of 135145mm.
Heavy rain caused flooding in many culverts and roads leading to villages such as: Khe Rung (20 households), Ca Roong 1 (54 households), Con Roang (52 households), Doong (12 households), Co Do (60 households), Cooc village (33 households). Some roads were eroded, typically the embankment to village 61, the road to Nong Cu village - Noong Moi was eroded 150m, completely cutting off the two villages.
On Provincial Road 562, many points were flooded locally, landslides of rocks and soil, fallen trees at Km16, Km21, Km46, Km47, Da Lat Waterfall area, causing traffic congestion. In addition, landslide risk points are identified in Ca Roong 1 village, Ban village, Con Roang village, Cooc village and primary and preschools in But village, Cooc village, Co Do village, Noong Moi village.

To respond, the commune government coordinated with Ca Roong Border Guard Station, Con Roang Border Guard Station, the Commune Military Command and the Commune Police to mobilize more than 300 officers, soldiers, militia and people in vulnerable villages. The People's Committee of the commune also prepared rice, instant noodles, drinking water and generators to serve when necessary.
The work of inspecting the scene was carried out continuously. On the morning of August 25, Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee of Thuong Trach commune directly worked with border guards, police, and military to inspect the landslide situation in village 61, Co Do village, Nong Cu village, Ban village and Ca Roong and Cooc spillways. The "Party People's Committee" mass mobilization groups are assigned to grasp the situation in each village and promptly report to the Commune Command Committee.


Notably, the commune has established a plan to evacuate people in Ban, Cooc, Cu Ton, Con Roang, Co Do, Aky villages to village cultural houses, schools and border posts. There is no urgent evacuation yet, but the 24/7 on-duty force is ready with rescue vehicles and shelter when there are bad situations.

The Commune Command Committee also thoroughly instructed schools and parents to absolutely not let students cross culverts and streams to ensure safety. The authorities have blocked and diverted traffic in areas with fast-flowing water, prohibiting people from fishing along the stream during the storm.
Currently, 6 glue miners in Truong Son commune have been contacted by the commune police to grasp the situation. The dams in the area are still operating safely, with no incidents.
