HUE - Storm No. 13 (Kalmagi) is approaching, forecast to cause heavy rain, strong winds and the risk of floods and landslides in Hue City.

According to the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station, as of 3:00 p.m. on November 6, floods in the area were still complicated, while storm No. 13 (international name Kalmagi) was approaching, forecast to cause strong winds, very heavy rain and a risk of major floods in the coming days.

In the past 24 hours, the rainfall in Hue City has generally ranged from 15 - 30mm, with some places recording over 40mm. Rivers in the area are currently receding slowly and fluctuating around alert level 2.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, due to the influence of the circulation of storm No. 13, rain will tend to increase again, concentrated from the evening and night of November 6. The water level on the Huong River is expected to fluctuate at alert level 2, the Bo River is above alert level 2; from the next 12 - 24 hours, floods on rivers are likely to rise to alert level 2 - alert level 3.

From dawn on November 6 to 8, the sea area of Hue City will have strong winds of level 6 - 7, then increase to level 8 - 9, gusting to level 10 - 12, very rough seas, waves 3 - 5m high, water level rise due to the storm about 1m.

On land, coastal areas and lagoons such as Thuan An, Vinh Loc, Phu Loc, Phu Ho, Phu Vang, Chan May - Lang Co may experience strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7 - 9. Midland areas such as Phong Phu, Phong Quang, Phong Dien, Loc An, Loc Tri, Hoa Chau, Duong No will have gusts of level 6 - 7; other places will have gusts of level 5 - 6. A Luoi mountainous area is warned that strong winds equivalent to level 7 may be recorded.

From November 6 to 8, Hue will have common rain of 150 - 300mm, some places over 450mm, concentrated on November 6 - 7. Floods on Huong, Bo rivers and other dependencies are likely to rise again, reaching alert level 2 - alert level 3.

Due to the combined impact of storms, high tides and big waves, coastal areas may be partially flooded; the flood drainage process will be slower than usual.

The Hue City Hydrometeorological Station warned that most areas in the area have been flooded after many days of heavy rain, many landslides have appeared in previous rains. The risk of landslides and flash floods in areas with steep terrain, especially the mountainous areas of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phu Loc... is assessed at a very high level.
