On April 14, Mr. Duong Quang Hien - Deputy Director in charge of the Green Park Center of Thuan Hoa District (Hue City) said that the unit is implementing a walking project along the Huong River, the section from the boat wharf to the foot of Dam Da bridge.
The project has a length of 460m, 6m wide, designed to combine walkways and bicycles, with a total investment of more than 35 billion. The construction started in January 2025, expected to be completed in 3 years.
The project includes items such as water supply and lighting systems, to meet the needs of use. The deployment is to contribute to urban embellishment, creating ecological landscapes and travel accents.
When completed, the route will connect to the walking road along Nhu Y river (under the Hue Water Environmental Improvement Project) with a total budget of more than 267 billion dong. This route goes through Phu Hoi and Xuan Phu wards, 1.6km long, 6m wide, extending from rock dams to Van Duong bridge.
However, the project of walking along Nhu Y river is still unfinished. Hue Water Environmental Improvement Project Management Board (Investor) said that the project started in July 2023, according to the completed plan in June 2024.
Explaining why the walking road project along Nhu Y river has not been completed but continues to deploy more routes along the Huong River, the project management board improves the water environment in Hue City (Project Management Board), said that these are two different projects, implemented by two different investors.
The main reason for the slow progress is that many bidding packages have to adjust the capital structure because the yen rate (Japan) drops sharply. The project's loan agreement expires from June 30, 2024. After disbursing all ODA capital in the Agreement, the total capital is missing about VND 249,509 billion (including construction and installation items, equipment and consulting services).
On April 14, talking to the Lao Dong newspaper, the leader of the Information Management Board of the Information Project, many bidding packages have been allocated capital. Particularly, the project of walking and embankment of the River Nhu Y, the remaining value to complete is 25.85 billion dong.
"It is important that the capital has been arranged, we are now urgently implemented to complete the project at the end of 2025," the leader of the project management board said.
