On August 9, Hue City People's Committee said that the City Smart City Monitoring and Operation Center (Hue-S) is organizing to collect people's opinions on the name of the Thuan An seaport bridge project, Thuan An ward.
People can participate in contributing opinions through the Hue-S application until the end of August 18, 2026.
Previously, the "Thai Duong" option was proposed to name the bridge. However, through verification, the Culture - Society Committee of Hue City People's Council found that there were still many different opinions about this name. The previous opinion collection was also not widespread, mainly concentrated in Thuan An ward.
According to the Culture and Social Affairs Committee, this is a city-level project, with a large scale, connecting the coastal road from the North to the South of Hue City. Therefore, the name needs to be symbolic, easy to recognize, and at the same time reflect the historical and cultural values of Hue.
From this proposal, the "Cửa Thuận" option is added to collect opinions along with the "Thái Dương" option. The Standing Committee of the Hue City People's Council proposed to organize the collection of people's opinions throughout the city before submitting them to the People's Council for consideration and decision.
The coastal road and bridge project through Thuan An estuary has a total length of nearly 22km, with a total investment of about 3,496 billion VND. The project started in March 2022.
The investor is the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. When completed, the project will connect the coastal traffic route, expand the urban space towards the sea and serve the economic, tourism and service development of Hue City.
