Hung Yen identifies 100% of fishing vessels, tightens management against IUU fishing

Hung Yen - On November 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 20th online meeting of the National Steering Committee on combating IUU fishing.

The meeting at Hung Yen bridge point was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hung Nam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee on combating IUU fishing, and members of the Provincial Steering Committee.

Together with the whole country, Hung Yen is determined to effectively implement the "Pic month against IUU fishing, towards sustainable aquaculture development". According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, from October 25 to November 3, the work of preventing and combating IUU fishing in the area achieved many positive results, preventing fishing vessels from losing connection, crossing borders or violating foreign waters.

During the week, the department advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to issue a Directive on implementing Official Dispatch No. 198/CD-TTg and Decision No. 2310/QD-TTg dated October 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister; at the same time, develop an action plan for the province to organize unified and synchronous implementation.

The authorities have coordinated with the locality to review and match the information of the ship owner, identify 100% of fishing vessels on the VNeID system; inspect and control 405 ships departing and leaving the port, monitor the output through the port of more than 222 tons; instruct fishermen to electronically declare via eCDT VN software.

In the coming time, Hung Yen province will identify 10 key groups of tasks, focusing on propaganda, strict management of fleets, strict implementation of the Law on Fisheries, ensuring electronic traceability, promoting the role of grassroots IUU Steering Committee, and preparing carefully for the 5th inspection of the European Commission (EC).

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches and localities to strictly implement the Government's direction, strictly manage data of fishing vessels "correct, sufficient, clean, and alive", strictly handle violating vessels, publicly announce national fisheries data, and not let unlicensed vessels operate.

Speaking at Hung Yen bridge, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hung Nam assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with units to prepare working content, ready to welcome the EC inspection team; at the same time, requested heads of departments, branches and localities to take responsibility if violations occur in the work of combating IUU fishing.
