On March 18, the Highway Traffic Police (CSGT) force continued to simultaneously launch operations to inspect and handle illegal parking and stopping on many key highways.
In March 2026, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Room 6, Traffic Police Department) organized 10 patrol and control teams, using professional camera systems to record violations.
Through records, more than 60 cases of improper parking and stopping have been detected and handled in the form of remote fines.
Routes with increased patrols include: Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay; Phan Thiet - Dau Giay; Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao; Cam Lam - Vinh Hao; Nha Trang - Cam Lam and Van Phong - Nha Trang.
Currently, highways from Ho Chi Minh City have been connected smoothly to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), causing traffic volume to increase.
Along with that, the need for stopping to rest and handle incidents on the route is also increasing.
However, according to functional forces, many drivers still do not clearly understand the regulations on stopping and parking in the emergency lane on the expressway, leading to the risk of violations and potential traffic unsafety.
According to the provisions of point c, clause 7, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government, the act of stopping and parking vehicles on highways in the wrong places will be fined from 12 - 14 million VND, and at the same time 6 points will be deducted from the driver's license.
Traffic police said that the expressway is a high-speed traffic route, so arbitrary stopping and parking can lead to serious accidents.
Reality has recorded many accidents stemming from vehicles stopping suddenly or not placing safety warnings, causing vehicles behind to not have time to handle them.
Functional forces recommend that when encountering problems such as car breakdowns, tire bursts, running out of fuel, traffic collisions or people on the car having health problems, drivers should quickly bring their vehicles into the emergency stop lane or near the right side of the road.
At the same time, it is necessary to turn on hazard warning lights, place warning signs or helmets at the rear of the vehicle at a distance of at least 150 m; people on the vehicle need to move out of the protective railing on the right side to ensure safety.
In case of collision, drivers should quickly record the scene, then put the vehicle in a safe position and perform warnings according to regulations.
When support is needed, vehicle drivers can contact the traffic police force or the expressway management unit for support.
