On March 16, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that recently, during patrols and inspections to ensure traffic order and safety, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 (CSGT Department) has continuously detected and promptly collected tires, rubber fragments and many objects scattered from tire explosions on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway towards Van Phong, Nha Trang.
On the highway, where vehicles travel at speeds from 80 - 120 km/h, even a small tire fragment falling on the road surface can become a dangerous "trap", causing vehicles behind to brake suddenly, steer suddenly, posing a potential chain collision risk.
Through grasping the situation, common causes leading to tire blowouts include: worn, cracked, aging or expired tires; poor quality tires, of unknown origin; overloaded vehicles, exceeding the prescribed number of people; traveling long distances in hot weather but not checking and adjusting tire pressure appropriately. Collisions with hard objects or metal fragments on the road surface can also cause tire damage and explosion.
When tires explode at high speeds, vehicles are very likely to wobble, lose control, overturn or rush into other lanes. The Ho Chi Minh City - Van Phong expressway is an important traffic axis with high traffic volume, so all safety risks can lead to serious consequences.
The Traffic Police force recommends that vehicle drivers carefully check the tire condition before entering the highway: wear, cracks, pressure according to manufacturer standards; use tires of clear origin; do not carry overload or exceed the prescribed number of people. For long journeys, drivers need to ensure health, take full rest and should have someone to take turns driving.
In case a tire explosion unfortunately occurs on the highway, the driver must remain calm, hold the steering wheel tightly, slowly release the throttle, absolutely do not brake suddenly; then drive the car into the emergency stop lane, turn on the danger warning light, place a warning sign at a minimum distance of 150m from the car and call hotline 19008099 for support. Do not try to continue moving when the tire is damaged because it may cause serious accidents for yourself and surrounding vehicles.
