The embankment of the iron mine is an area previously filled with soil surrounding the Thach Khe iron mine during the exploitation process to prevent water, iron ore, and sand from flowing downstream to ensure the environment.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Thach Khe Commune People's Committee said that on November 2, Thach Khe Commune mobilized 300 people including police, military, cadres of organizations and people to transport nearly 1,000 sacks containing soil and sand to fill the embankment of the broken Thach Khe iron mine.
At around 4:30 p.m. the same day, the embankment of this broken bag was completed and temporarily reassured.
However, according to the plan, on November 3, the locality will continue to reinforce and install drainage pipes to reduce the load of nearly 20 million m3 of water in this iron mine shaft.

According to Mr. Tuan, at around 1:00 p.m. on November 1, the embankment of the Thach Khe iron mine broke, causing strong water flooding in 7 villages downstream.
As soon as it was discovered, the Thach Khe commune government mobilized about 100 people to reinforce and rebuild it but it could still not be completed within the day.
Therefore, today (November 2), the locality has increased its force to 300 people, determined to complete the reinforcement.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Khe commune added that the previous broken embankment was about 15 meters long.
