According to initial information, at 12:00 on November 9, Tuy Hoa City Border Guard Station received a report from Ms. Nguyen Thi Phung (born in 1980, residing in Phu Dong ward, Tuy Hoa city) about fishing boat PY96236TS having an accident at sea.
Fishing boat PY96236TS (15.5m long, 435CV capacity) owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet (born in 1966, residing in Phu Dong ward, Tuy Hoa city) had a water damage incident while towing fishing boat PY92584TS, which had a broken shaft at 7:00 a.m. on November 9.
Currently, 5 workers and fishing gear on the fishing boat have been transferred to fishing boat PY92584TS captained by Mr. Cao Minh Tan (born in 1994, residing in Phu Dong ward). After that, the 2 fishing boats that had an accident were left adrift.
According to the Phu Yen Provincial Border Guard Command, by the morning of November 10, fishing boat PY92584TS had temporarily fixed the problem and brought the crew members safely to Dong Tac port. Fishing boat PY96236TS alone was damaged, drifted and sank, with estimated damage of about 800 million VND.
