Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee said that since the beginning of October 2024, the locality has simultaneously deployed the Dog Catching Team in Nha Trang city.
Up to now, communes and wards have established specialized teams to catch dogs that are let loose on the streets, developed implementation plans and simultaneously launched propaganda campaigns in many forms.
In addition, the team also carried out 12 mobile propaganda trips, 78 propaganda sessions on the radio and 33 visual propaganda banners.
After 2 months of implementation, localities have seized 15 dogs and fined 2 dog owners for violations, with a total fine of 3 million VND.
In the coming time, localities will continue to launch a team to catch stray dogs in the city and at the same time, propagate people to register and declare their dog and cat ownership to the People's Committee at the commune level; commit to chaining, confining or keeping dogs within the family's premises...
A ward leader in Nha Trang admitted that the process of catching stray dogs costs a lot of money to rent vehicles to transport and equip the tools to catch the dogs...
In some communes and wards, there is no place to keep dogs without owners or without owners. Some places even have to keep them in the premises of state agencies, causing unsanitary conditions and noise pollution.
Currently, communes and wards will still maintain and implement well the specialized team to catch stray dogs and periodically report the results every Friday afternoon so that city leaders can grasp and have a direction to handle and promptly remove obstacles.
