Long traffic jam on Mai Chi Tho street, people struggle to get to the center of Ho Chi Minh City

On the first morning of the week, the flow of vehicles pouring into the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City increased sharply, causing prolonged traffic jams on Mai Chi Tho street, and people struggled to move into the center.

On the morning of March 23, the Mai Chi Tho street area (An Khanh ward), in the direction of traffic to the city center, experienced prolonged congestion, causing many people to move with difficulty and be late for work.

From about 6:30 am, the number of vehicles pouring into Mai Chi Tho street became increasingly crowded. The line of cars followed each other, moving slightly, at times almost standing still.

Functional forces were present to regulate traffic, but due to the high density of vehicles during rush hour, movement is still difficult.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (resident of Binh Trung ward) said: "I go to work every day through this route, but this morning the traffic jam is heavier than usual. Some sections take nearly 20 minutes to pass, being late for work makes me very anxious.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Minh Quan (working in Xuan Hoa ward) shared: "I predicted that today there would be more traffic jams, going to work also earlier but still being stuck".

In addition to the increased traffic volume on the first day of the week, the reason for the congestion and traffic jams on the morning of March 23 is due to traffic adjustments at Thu Thiem new urban area, many roads are restricted from traffic from today until the end of March 25.

Previously, on the evening of March 22, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police issued a notice adjusting and restricting traffic on many roads in Thu Thiem new urban area.
