On March 17, recorded at the An Phu intersection construction site, hundreds of engineers, workers and machinery are constructing overpass branches.

At the N1 overpass branch (direction from Mai Chi Tho Avenue turning left to the expressway access road), units are constructing the bridge deck span structure.

Branch N3 (direction Mai Chi Tho turn left to Dong Van Cong) has completed bridge piers, synchronously installed reinforced concrete girders, and is currently entering the stage of completing railings, bridge girders and access roads.

The An Phu intersection project, the largest in Ho Chi Minh City, started construction at the end of 2022, with a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND, a scale of 3 floors with a modern overpass and underpass system.
The project connects key traffic axes including the HCMC - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, Mai Chi Tho, Luong Dinh Cua, Nguyen Thi Dinh and Dong Van Cong boulevards.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), after more than 3 years of implementation, many important items have been completed and put into operation.
Two underpasses HC1-01 and HC1-02 connecting Mai Chi Tho with the expressway access road have been opened to traffic.

The N2 bridge branch (from the expressway turning right to Mai Chi Tho) has also been put into use. Some projects such as Ba Dat bridge and Giong Ong To bridge are basically completed.

The remaining items are being accelerated in construction. Branches N1. 1 and N1. 3 (from Mai Chi Tho street turning left onto the expressway) reached about 40% of the volume, expected to be completed on June 30, 2026.
Branch N3 reached 85% of the volume, expected to be completed on April 30, 2026.

The N4 bridge branch (from Dong Van Cong turning right to Mai Chi Tho) reached 45% of the volume, expected to be completed on June 30, 2026.
Branch N1. 2 (from Luong Dinh Cua to the expressway) can be completed in November 2026 if sufficient land is handed over in March 2026.
The biggest bottleneck of the project currently is the land area of more than 22,000 m2 along Luong Dinh Cua street (section from Nguyen Hoang to An Phu intersection), where 64 households and organizations are affected.
This area is related to many overlapping projects such as An Phu Development Urban Area, Luong Dinh Cua road expansion and An Phu intersection, causing site clearance work to be prolonged for more than 10 years and still not completed.

To remove difficulties, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Board proposed to adjust the boundary, merging the above area into the Luong Dinh Cua road expansion project, and at the same time advance about 1,800 billion VND to compensate and support people.
When land is available, units will deploy the construction of branch N1. 2 and complete the entire Luong Dinh Cua route, and handle parallel legal procedures.
On March 17, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc directly inspected the An Phu intersection construction site, directing the removal of obstacles.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc agreed with the above plan and assigned relevant units to complete and provide specific advice for implementation.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, site clearance for this land area is a key factor to accelerate the progress of two key projects at the eastern gateway, especially the An Phu intersection, with the requirement to be completed in 2026.
The items at An Phu intersection when put into synchronous operation not only eliminate traffic jams at the eastern gateway but also play an important role in synchronizing with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway expansion project, increasing connectivity to Long Thanh airport.
