On the morning of March 23, the Mai Chi Tho street area (An Khanh ward), in the direction of traffic to the center of Ho Chi Minh City, experienced prolonged congestion and traffic jams. At times, almost all vehicles were standing still.
Although functional forces have been present to regulate, the density of vehicles is too high during peak hours, making it difficult for people to move, and many cases are late for work.
The increased number of vehicles during peak hours combined with adjustments and restrictions on traffic on many roads in Thu Thiem new urban area on March 23 is the main reason leading to the above situation.
This evening, congestion in this area may continue to occur in the opposite direction, from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to neighboring areas.
In the next 2 days (March 24 and March 25), congestion may continue to occur, so people can consider using public transport such as metro and buses to reduce traffic pressure and limit congestion.
Previously, on the evening of March 22, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police issued a notice adjusting and restricting traffic on many roads in Thu Thiem new urban area from March 23 to the end of March 25.
The Traffic Police Department said that it will arrange forces to regulate and divert traffic flexibly according to the actual situation to minimize the impact on people's travel.
Traffic participants are advised to follow the instructions of functional forces and proactively choose a suitable route.
