On June 17, Dong Nai City People's Committee just issued a plan to overcome flooding when heavy rain occurs in the area in the period 2026-2030.
Accordingly, for the localized flooding point on National Highway 51, section Km0+000 to Km5+000, Long Hung ward, the current situation is flooding around the area passing through Shing Mark University Medical Hospital from Km2+500 to Km3+000 and the area near Son Tien Tourist Area from Km4+200 to Km4+700.
The main reason is that rainwater from residential areas and companies along both sides of the route is not collected into the drainage system in residential areas but directly flows out of National Highway 51.
The locations of water inlets along National Highway 51 are covered with domestic waste and soil and sand, leading to failure to collect water from the road surface; The downstream area of the 2x1.2x1.2m box culvert across the road at Km 2+757 outside the road corridor has been silted up with soil and sand (the drainage culvert mouth at the time of inspection was buried downstream about 90cm).
On the other hand, the canal section behind is also narrowed in flow, with some sections only about 1.5m wide.
To overcome the above flooding point, Dong Nai City People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to organize dredging of drainage ditches in the area; calculate to add water intake gates, increase surface water intake on branch roads, limit direct spills outside National Highway 51; Accelerate the installation of designed manhole water intake gates, completing in the third quarter of 2026.
Long Hung Ward People's Committee organizes garbage collection on the sidewalk of National Highway 51 to prevent garbage from causing congestion at water intake gates.
At the same time, working with neighborhoods and residential areas along the route on the issue of collecting garbage to ensure environmental sanitation; Dredging and clearing water inlets, ditches, sewers, and ditches belonging to branch roads and residential areas along National Highway 51; Dredging upstream and downstream canals, ditches, rivers, and streams in the area of bridges and level culverts of National Highway 51 (within the corridor of National Highway 51), to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
The Department of Construction and the Director of the City Construction Investment Project Management Board shall study and propose long-term drainage solutions for the area, and propose implementation plans in the third quarter of 2026.
