Khanh Hoa supports 40 billion VND for 2 districts to escape poverty sustainably

District poverty reduction "happy and worried"

On the afternoon of February 28, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province held a ceremony to announce Khanh Son district, Khanh Vinh escapes poverty in 2025.

According to the assessment results, on February 24, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed a decision to recognize the two mountainous districts of Khanh Hoa, Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh, as escaping poverty and Van Thanh commune (Van Ninh district) escaping the particularly difficult situation.

This is the result of the efforts of local people and authorities at all levels in the past time.

According to Mr. Dinh Van Dung - Chairman of Khanh Son District People's Committee, in 2021, Khanh Son District had 3,530 poor households (accounting for 47.43%), 1,405 near-poor households (accounting for 18.88%).

By the end of 2024, the whole district will have 1,620 poor households (accounting for 20.17%), 908 near-poor households (accounting for 11.3%). Average income per capita reached 37.31 million VND, an increase of 1.58 times compared to the first year of the program (23.55 million VND).

It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the multidimensional poverty rate in Khanh Son district will decrease to 19.18%, with 1,001 poor households, 550 near-poor households, and an average income per capita of 42.86 million VND.

"The district escapes poverty while being both happy and worried. How to create livelihoods for people, build scenarios in the period of sustainable poverty reduction... is the problem for the locality.

But we are committed to the province's determination to build a sustainable development roadmap, improving people's lives through specific groups of solutions. In particular, arousing the will to self-reliantly escape poverty and get rich" - Mr. Dung shared.

Avoiding "re-poor", encouraging young people to start a business in their hometown

Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee emphasized at the announcement ceremony: "The fact that the two districts have officially escaped poverty according to the Prime Minister's decision is an important milestone".

According to Mr. Tuan, in recent years, Khanh Hoa province has focused many resources to support Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh in development, from improving infrastructure, supporting livelihoods, vocational training to improving the quality of medical and educational services. Thanks to that, the poverty rate in the two districts decreased faster than the national average.

More fortunately, up to now, there are no more poor households or near-poor households in the province that are subject to policies or people with meritorious services.

"We also have to accept the reality that poverty reduction is just the beginning. Regarding sustainable poverty reduction and building a district with high and good income, the Provincial People's Committee will assign tasks to inspect and the two districts must develop a development plan in the coming time. The province will also have appropriate policies to develop ethnic minority areas" - Mr. Tuan said.

To ensure that Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts continue to develop stably and not return to a difficult situation, Mr. Tuan suggested that the districts need to step up propaganda and mobilization work so that people can change their thinking, proactively promote the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance.

Along with solutions to promote the economy and improve infrastructure, the two districts need to continue to coordinate with vocational training institutions and enterprises to expand labor training programs according to actual needs.
