Reduce the rate of child drowning
On December 28, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced that it had issued a plan to implement the Safe Swimming Program, preventing and combating child drowning for the period 2026-2030.
In this period, the province sets a target for 100% of communes, wards, and towns to implement the Safe Swimming Program; by 2030, 70% of children aged 6 to under 16 will be equipped with safe water skills and 60% of children will know how to swim safely.
The province also requires 100% of establishments organizing swimming, diving, and water entertainment activities to have instructors, swimming instructors, and rescue workers trained according to regulations.
By 2030, Khanh Hoa strives for 95% of households to have access to information, knowledge and skills for preventing and controlling child drowning; 100% of schools annually organize propaganda and education on drowning prevention skills for students. The province aims to reduce at least 20% of children dying from drowning by 2030.

People expect
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
People in mountainous, rural and coastal areas expressed their agreement with this policy, and at the same time clearly stated the difficulties that need to be resolved soon so that the program can be effective and substantive.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Bo Bo Thi Linh (Khanh Vinh district) said that mountainous children are frequently exposed to natural rivers, streams, and ponds, while swimming learning conditions are still limited.
In the heavy rainy season, rivers and streams flow fast, children going to school and playing are very dangerous. A safe swimming program is very necessary, especially for children in ethnic minority areas. However, currently the commune does not have a swimming pool, if you want to learn to swim, you have to go far away, and your family has difficulty having conditions," Ms. Linh shared.
According to her, if the program is implemented closely to reality, with mobile swimming classes, mobile swimming pools or safely renovating ponds and lakes, mountain children will have more opportunities to access swimming skills and prevent and combat drowning.
In the Cam Lam area - where there is a long coastline and many tourist areas - Mr. Nguyen Van Tu said that the risk of drowning in children is still latent if they are not equipped with swimming skills and underwater safety skills.
I expect the program to organize methodical swimming lessons at schools or localities, not just stopping at propaganda," Mr. Tu said.
