According to information from the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), the Information Technology and Environment Joint Stock Company (VITE), a member of TKV, has just completed the HR249 borehole with a depth of 1,170m in the Ha Rang mine area of the Hon Gai Coal Company.
This is the deepest borehole that VITE Company has ever undertaken.
Drill hole HR249 belongs to the Ha Rang coal mine exploration project, Vu Oai commune and Ha Khanh ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province with an expected depth of 1,070m and extended to 1,290m, with the task of studying seams from 18÷13.
The project has designed a number of boreholes to depths below -1,000m to delineate coal-bearing clusters, and to search for and evaluate the potential of resource reserves below -600m to the bottom of the coal layer.
According to experts, in recent years, to complete a borehole over 1.00 m deep in the Quang Ninh coal basin, there have been many risks, and the risk of incidents occurring in deep drilling projects is very high.
The project has a design depth of 1,070m and is further extended to 1,290m to carry out the tasks of stratigraphic and tectonic research, determining the thickness of main coal seams, taking samples of coal, gas, small volume...; geophysical measurements.
With complicated construction conditions, the exploration construction unit has prioritized arranging the new XY-5 drilling rig and the most modern equipment as well as focusing on a team of highly skilled workers with many years of experience, arranging manpower to work continuously in 3 shifts at the construction site to construct the borehole.
During the construction process, there were many difficulties due to frequent water sprays and complex changes in the soil and rock strata. The construction time was affected by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), causing many difficulties for the drilling team.
After more than 5 months of construction, the construction of borehole HR249 was completed on schedule, ensuring construction quality and safety, hygiene and labor.
The deepest coal reserve exploration borehole in Quang Ninh today belongs to borehole MK1227, constructed by drilling team 12, Mining Geology Joint Stock Company, TKV according to the Mao Khe coal mine exploration project, Dong Trieu city, Quang Ninh province.
The project has a design depth of 1,220m and is further extended to 1,320m to carry out the following tasks: Studying stratigraphy, tectonics, determining the thickness of main coal seams. Taking samples of: coal chemistry; gas; small volume; coal ash chemistry and rock mechanics. Monitoring engineering geological hydrology. Geophysical measurements, repeated measurements and ultrasonic measurements to accurately determine the direction of insertion and the slope angle of lava layers...
After more than 5 months of construction, the MK1227 borehole was completed and ended at a depth of 1,320m, ensuring safety, productivity and quality. The project completed the set goals, requirements and technical tasks, especially determining the existence of coal seams and the relatively large resource prospects below -600m in the North wing of Mao Khe coal mine.
