In the field of road traffic, the Ministry of Construction and the Railway Project Management Board held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Than Vu tunnel completion investment project, on the North-South expressway in the East.
The project has a starting point at Km437+500 (Tan Chau commune) and an ending point at Km445+700 ( branch N2, Nghi Phuong intersection, Thinh Linh commune), with a total length of about 8.2 km, including 3 bridges with a total length of more than 4.1 km, Than Vu tunnel about 1.08 km long and the remaining route is nearly 2.9 km.

The project is invested according to highway standards, with a scale of 4 - 6 lanes, with a total investment of more than 2,000 billion VND. When completed, the project will contribute to completing the North - South expressway, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, enhancing regional connectivity, shortening travel time, improving traffic safety and opening up new development space for Nghe An.
On the same day, Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC inaugurated infrastructure upgrade projects at Vinh International Airport, including the project to repair runways, taxiways and the domestic terminal renovation project.
These are key items in the total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND to upgrade Vinh airport according to the plan approved by the Prime Minister. After 6 months of temporary closure for construction, Vinh airport officially reopened from December 19, gradually improving exploitation capacity, meeting travel, trade needs, attracting investment and developing tourism in Nghe An and the North Central region.
In the field of irrigation - water security, the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 1 held an inauguration ceremony for the Ban Mong Reservoir Center Cluster Phase 1 in Tam Hop Commune.

The project was approved in 2009, after many years of interruption due to capital difficulties, and has now completed important focal items, with a lake capacity of more than 224 million m3, combined with irrigation water for nearly 19,000 hectares, supplementing the dry season flow of the Ca River, generating electricity with a capacity of 45 MW, reducing floods downstream and improving the ecological environment.
Putting the project into operation is considered an important step to ensure water security, serve agricultural development and stabilize people's lives in the context of increasingly severe climate change.
The simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of major infrastructure projects on December 19 shows the determination of the Central and local governments in synchronously investing in Nghe An's development pillars, from transportation, aviation to irrigation, creating an important foundation for the province to accelerate socio-economic development in the coming period, towards the goal of rapid and sustainable development.
