No 300kg crocodile in Nang Mau canal

PHƯƠNG ANH |

Can Tho - The authorities confirmed that the image of crocodiles circulating online did not happen in the Nang Mau canal as warned.

On December 11, the Department of Rural Development and Forest Protection of Can Tho City said that the unit had coordinated with functional forces to verify information about the image of a 200 - 300kg crocodile believed to have appeared in the Nang Mau canal that had been circulating on social media.

Previously, a Facebook account posted a photo of the crocodile and warned "croates about 200 to 300 kg appear in the large white bridge of Nang Mau canal HG, everyone be careful".

Immediately after receiving instructions from the Department's leaders, the Forest Protection Department of Area III and the Mobile Forest Protection & Fire Prevention and Fighting Team coordinated with Phu Huu Commune Police to conduct an on-site inspection.

The authorities worked with the Head of the People's Committee of Dong Loi A Hamlet and people living near the area where crocodiles were believed to have been discovered, but it was known that there were no crocodiles floating or appearing as reported. The commune police also said that the review process determined that the posted information was untrue.

Working with the Facebook account owner, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quan said that he took the image from another account to repost, and that no crocodiles appeared at the above address. Phu Huu Commune Police are continuing to work with Mr. Quan.
