The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued an urgent document on the implementation of the investment project to expand Tran Binh Trong Street (Vuon Lai Ward), including all intersections on the route.
According to the direction of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Tran Binh Trong road expansion project is added to the list of projects expected to receive targeted support from the City budget to the budgets of communes, wards and special zones in the 2026 - 2030 period.
The People's Committee of Vuon Lai Ward is assigned to be the focal point to organize implementation in accordance with the provisions of the law on public investment, from the steps of preparation, submission for appraisal to the investment policy decision; at the same time, send the dossier to the Department of Finance for synthesis and reporting to the City People's Committee.
Tran Binh Trong Street, the section from Ly Thai To to Hung Vuong Street, is about 370 m long but the road surface is only 5 m wide on average, narrow and not synchronized with the two neighboring axes, Hung Vuong and Ly Thai To. This has also been a traffic jam for many years.
According to the plan proposed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the road will be expanded to 17 m, equivalent to 4 lanes (each lane is 3.5 m wide).
The sidewalk adjacent to the residential area is arranged to be at least 3 m wide; the sidewalk adjacent to the park will be designed according to the separate documents of the park project.
To minimize the impact of clearance, the Department of Construction proposed to adjust the planning boundary in the direction of expanding from the residential area to the park, to ensure sufficient road clearance as required.

The project plans to relocate 115 households and 1 organization to hand over the construction site. The total investment is mostly for compensation and site clearance with more than VND 830.5 billion; construction cost is about VND 40.7 billion.
The expansion of Tran Binh Trong Street is part of the plan to renovate land plot No. 1 Ly Thai To, Vuon Lai Ward, implementing the policy of converting this land into a park combined with a memorial site for COVID-19 victims.
