Nhon Trach Bridge - an important link of Ring Road 3
One of the notable projects is Nhon Trach Bridge, over 2km long, in section 1A (8km long) of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, connecting from DT25B (Dong Nai) to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.
With a total investment of VND1,800 billion, Nhon Trach Bridge is about 2.5km long, 20.5m wide, including 6 lanes, designed speed of 80km/h. This is the largest bridge in the entire Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.
The project has completed all main items and road markings and will officially open to traffic on August 19, putting into operation from 7:00 a.m. on August 20. When in use, the bridge helps shorten travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, quickly connecting to Long Thanh International Airport and the Southeast provinces.
However, because the intersection between Nhon Trach Bridge and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is constructing another package of Ring Road 3, the city will organize a temporary traffic plan from August 19. About 400m of the main route and some branches will be put into use first, and at the same time, an additional 200m long temporary road will be opened so that vehicles from Nhon Trach bridge can turn right into the toll station, round up the highway and vice versa. All remaining items at the intersection are expected to be completed from the end of September to December 2025.
At the same time, Thuy Van road, 3.2km long along the coast of Vung Tau, will also be inaugurated, after completing the renovation project with a total investment of more than 1,000 billion VND. The project brings a new look to the coastal area, not only improving transport infrastructure but also contributing to promoting tourism.
Strengthening the connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh International Airport
The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway expansion project will start on August 19 as an emergency construction project. In particular, the section from Ring Road 2 intersection to Ring Road 3 with a length of 4.8km will be expanded from 4 to 8 lanes; the section from Ring Road 3 to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway intersection with a length of 14.7km will be increased from 4 to 10 lanes. Long Thanh Bridge will also build a new bridge on the right side of the existing bridge, with a scale of 5 lanes in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh.
The project has a total investment capital of VND 14,945 billion, invested by Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC). According to the plan, the project is basically completed in December 2026; Long Thanh bridge will be closed at the end of 2026 and completely completed in March 2027.
The expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway will meet the increasing transportation demand, shorten time, reduce travel costs, and enhance connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and Long Thanh International Airport.
Another key infrastructure project that started construction on August 19 is the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway. The project is nearly 51km long, starting at the connection point of Ring Road 3 (HCMC), ending at the intersection of National Highway 22 in Tay Ninh, with a total investment of more than VND 19,600 billion.
On August 19, Ho Chi Minh City will also start the Dinh Intersection project (National Highway 1 - Nguyen Van Qua, old District 12) with a total capital of nearly 400 billion VND. The project includes a 600m long overpass (including an approach road), 4 lanes; at the same time, expanding Nguyen Van Qua, Tan Thoi Hiep 20 and Nguyen Thi Dang routes. The project improves connectivity for the northwestern gateway area of the city.
