The project to renovate sidewalks into flower gardens and walking paths was once expected to become a community activity spot.
However, Kim Giang Street in Thanh Liet Commune, Thanh Tri District, Hanoi City is being occupied as a place for illegal trading, parking and littering, causing loss of urban beauty.

On March 25, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded the situation of the sidewalk of Kim Giang Street being turned into a place for illegal parking, street vendors and littering. Although there are signs prohibiting parking, this situation still occurs publicly without the intervention of authorities.
Shops, wineries, and street vendors have sprung up everywhere, occupying walking space, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road, posing a potential risk to traffic safety. This situation not only loses the original purpose of the project, which was to build a green, clean, beautiful, and civilized street, but also causes many environmental and traffic safety problems.

According to records, on many sidewalks on Kim Giang Street, green grass and tree rows planted a few years ago have now become barren, many trees have even dried up.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung (54 years old, Thanh Liet commune) said that when it was just completed, the sidewalk of Kim Giang street was very beautiful with many trees and flowers. However, after a while, the deterioration began to occur, and currently very few people still use the sidewalk to walk.

The above situation comes from the awareness of a part of the people who are still limited, still considering sidewalks as places that can be freely used for personal purposes. Meanwhile, the management, supervision and handling of violations by local authorities has not been drastic. The failure to promptly handle violations has created a bad precedent, causing many people to continue to violate.
To solve this problem, local authorities need to take drastic action and strictly handle violations. Only then can the sidewalk of Kim Giang Street be restored to its original purpose - becoming a green space serving the community.
