Not giving priority to vehicles on the expressway, driver fined 7 million VND

On the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, priority vehicles have issued traffic lights and sirens according to regulations, but trucks still do not give way even though they have sufficient conditions to change lanes.

On September 20, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Room 6, Traffic Police Department) said that the unit had just made a record to fine a truck driver for the act of not giving way to priority vehicles on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway.

The incident happened at 5:56 am on September 19, at Km34+600 Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, in the direction from Hanoi to Lao Cai.

At this time, a truck with license plate 98C-322. XX was traveling on the route but did not give way to the priority vehicle that was signaling to perform its duties.

Through working, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 identified Mr. C.V. H. (born in 1982) as the person directly driving the truck.

According to functional agencies, at the time of the violation, the vehicle entitled to priority had issued traffic lights and horns according to regulations.

The truck driven by Mr. H. was eligible to move to the right lane to give way to priority vehicles, but the driver did not comply.

The act of not giving way to vehicles entitled to priority when there is a priority signal is determined to be a violation of point b, clause 6, Article 6 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.

For this violation, the driver was fined 7 million VND and deducted 4 points from his driver's license.

Previously, in March 2026, at Km64 of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, the patrol team of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 was on duty and issued priority signals.

However, driver N.V.D (born 1986, residing in Hien Luong commune, Phu Tho province) driving the passenger car still "pretended not to listen", not giving way according to regulations.

After that, functional forces made a record of administrative violation against driver N.V.D with a fine of 7 million VND and deducted 4 points from the driver's license.
