Kon Tum proposes two residence options for 1,034 people

Kon Tum - The province proposed to transfer 1,034 people registered to reside in Da Nang City (after the merger) or import these people to the new Quang Ngai province.

On May 2, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province said that it had proposed the National Assembly Standing Committee to consider and agree on a plan to completely resolve the situation of people in village 3, Tra Vinh commune (Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province) living in Dak Nen commune ( Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province).

According to the People's Committee of Kon Tum province, over the years, 187 households with 1,034 people in village 3, Tra Vinh commune have come to live and farming stably in Dak Nen commune.

However, due to the lack of consensus between functional sectors and the authorities of the two provinces on solutions to overcome the overlap of administrative boundaries, localities cannot implement infrastructure investment in this area.

As a result, people's lives have encountered many difficulties, travel and trade of goods have been hindered, and there is a shortage of living conditions. Students are not guaranteed safe learning conditions due to temporary and degraded schools.

In that situation and in the context of the province's merger project being considered (Quang Nam merged with Da Nang; Kon Tum merged with Quang Ngai), the People's Committee of Kon Tum province has proposed two options: One is to move all 187 households to live and register to reside in Da Nang city (after the merger); two is to import these people to Quang Ngai province (after the merger).

Kon Tum province also proposed to keep the current administrative boundary between communes of Quang Ngai province (after the merger) and communes of Da Nang city (after the merger).
