On October 11, in Cuor Tak hamlet, Lien Son Lak commune, Lak district (Dak Lak), Mr. Y Khuong Teh's family voluntarily handed over a python individual on the list of endangered and rare wild animals with priority for protection to the authorities.
According to initial information, the individual was identified as a phlegm (Varanus nebulosus), belonging to Group IB - a species strictly prohibited from exploitation and use for commercial purposes according to current regulations. This individual has not been identified for gender, weighs about 1.1 kg, and is 50cm long.
Mr. Y Khuong Teh said that at around 5:00 p.m. on October 9, his family suddenly discovered a live swallow running into the yard.
Recognizing the importance of wildlife protection, he and his relatives proactively controlled the safety and immediately reported to the local authorities for handling according to regulations.
After receiving the report, the Lak Forest Protection Department coordinated with the People's Committee of the commune, the Lien Son Lak Commune Police and the Lak Area Livestock - Veterinary Station to conduct a health check and prepare a file to hand over this individual.
At the time of admission, the fertilizer was not injured, in good physical condition, and had good mobility.
Immediately afterwards, the authorities released the python individual to the Lak Lake Historical - Cultural - Environmental Forest, where there were suitable natural conditions for this species to live and develop safely.
